How is it that the leader of France is tougher than the American President?
French President Nicolas Sarkozy stepped up this morning and showed more leadership that President Obama.
Moments after the U.N. Security Council — chaired by Obama — passed a resolution aimed at creating a global nuclear disarmament and reducing the “risk of nuclear terrorism,” the French leader said the emperor had no clothes.
“Iran is violating the Security Council’s resolutions right before our eyes,” Sarkozy added. “The international community has urged Iran to agree to talks (on its nuclear program) since 2005, but since then there has only been more uranium enrichment, more centrifuges and a declaration by Iran’s leader (President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) to a UN member state [Israel] off the map.”
Sarkozy called for “immediate action” against Iran, arguing, “If we have the courage to affirm and impose sanctions together against those who violate resolutions of the Security Council, we will be lending credibility to our commitment towards a world with fewer nuclear weapons.”
