Najibullah Zazi, an Afghan national living near Denver, has reportedly admitted ties to al Qaeda and was arrested this weekend by the FBI in a terror investigation.

In the newly-released documentary film, Inside The Revolution — as well as in the National Town Hall Meeting on the threat of Radical Islam that we held on 9/11 — my colleagues and I have made the case that we are at the most dangerous moment in the Islamic revolution, that Radical Islamic jihadists are actively seeking to unleash horrific inside the United States, and that we dare not lose sight of the threat.

Now comes news that the FBI arrested three men this weekend — including two Afghan nationals — as part of major sleeper cell terror investigation.

“Federal agents have charged a 24-year-old Colorado resident, his father and another man with making false statements during an extensive terror investigation that stretches to Pakistan,” reports CNN. “The Justice Department said Sunday it is investigating several other people in connection with the plot to detonate bombs in the United States.”

“Najibullah Zazi and his father, Mohammed Wali Zazi — both originally from Afghanistan — were arrested Saturday night. They were handcuffed without incident after authorities raided Zazi’s home in the Denver suburb of Aurora. An acquaintance of the two men, Ahmad Wais Afzali, of Queens, New York, was also arrested. Afzali is a legal permanent resident from Afghanistan, as is Najibullah Zazi. Mohammed Wali Zazi is a naturalized U.S. citizen. ‘Each of the defendants has been charged by criminal complaint with knowingly and willfully making false statements to the FBI in a matter involving international and domestic terrorism,’ the Justice Department said in a statement.”

The arrests come after a startling report that Zazi admitted ties to al Qaeda. “A 24-year-old Colorado resident and Afghan national who is a suspect in an alleged terrorist plot in the United States has admitted to having ties to al Qaeda, an administration official familiar with the matter told CNN on Friday….The alleged terrorist plot, which came to light this week after raids in New York, may have been targeting a major transportation center, such as a large railroad or subway station, sources close to the investigation told CNN on Thursday. There were plans for an attack, presumably in the New York area, where crowds are large and security screening for travelers who are not flying is lax, the sources said.” [New York Times coverage of the investigation to a possible al-Qaeda terror cell operating in Colorado and New York.]

The arrests of the Afghan nationals highlight the continued need for vigilance here at home. It also suggests we need to do more to fight and win the battle with al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

“The nation’s top military officer told Congress on Tuesday that the U.S. war in Afghanistan ‘probably needs more forces’ and sought to reassure lawmakers skeptical of sending additional troops that commanders were devising new tactics that would lead to victory over a resurgent Taliban,” reports the Washington Post. Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that 2,000 to 4,000 additional military trainers from the United States and its NATO partners will be needed to ‘jump-start’ the expansion of Afghan security forces and strongly suggested that more U.S. combat troops will be required to provide security in the short term. ‘A properly resourced counterinsurgency probably needs more forces,’ Mullen said in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee.”

Inexplicably, Sen. Carl Levin, the Michigan Democrat who chairs the Armed Services Committee, strongly opposes putting more boots on the ground in Afghanistan. President Obama hedged on this weekend’s talk shows on committing to more troops. But Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican, says “a delay in sending more combat forces would ‘repeat the nearly catastrophic mistakes’ that occurred in Iraq before the Bush administration increased troop levels.”

“The White House will shelve Bush administration plans to build a missile-defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic, a move likely to cheer Moscow and roil the security debate in Europe,” reports the Wall Street Journal this morning.

“Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell confirmed Thursday that a ‘major adjustment’ is planned and said the decision was made to better protect U.S. forces and allies in Europe from Iranian missile attacks. The U.S. is basing its move on a determination that Iran’s long-range missile program hasn’t progressed as rapidly as previously estimated, reducing the threat to the continental U.S. and major European capitals, according to current and former U.S. officials.”

President Obama is making his announcement to abandon the defense of the Czech Republic (and the rest of Europe and the U.S.) on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland.

This is a dramatic victory for Czar Putin and his allies in the Kremlin who have threatened to re-launch the nuclear arms race if the U.S. dared defend herself and her allies from Russia, Iranian and other missile threats.

Separately, the Pentagon is preparing to hold a major joint  missile defense exercise in Israel in October, according to a report in the Jerusalem Post.

• “Israel will be compelled to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities if Western powers do not impose serious sanctions against Teheran by the end of 2009, former deputy defense minister Ephraim Sneh said on Wednesday. ‘We cannot live under the shadow of an Iran with nuclear weapons,”‘ he was quoted as telling Reuters in an interview on a visit to the UK. ‘By the end of the year, if there is no agreement on crippling sanctions aimed at this regime, we will have no choice.’
• “Sneh reportedly stressed that a military strike would be ‘the very, very last resort. But ironically it is our best friends and allies who are pushing us into a corner where we would have no option but to do it….I wonder if they will [put a tougher sanctions regime in place] quickly enough. If not, we are compelled to take action.’
• “Sneh, who holds no position in the government and was speaking in his personal capacity, told Reuters it was not clear the US and EU had the decisiveness to take such steps, which should include tougher banking and oil curbs, by year’s end….”

Bible prophecy teaches that “you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars” in the last days (Matthew 24:6-8), but the Scriptures also encourage us not to be frightened “for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end….All these things are merely the beginning of the birth pangs.”

How should the Church respond to such threats posed by Iran and other Radical Muslims? Pray for peace, but prepare for war.

In Psalm 122:6, the Lord commands us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” and we certainly need to do that now more than ever. I would encourage you to gather your family, entire church congregations, small group Bible studies, home fellowship groups, schools, and other organizations to set aside time this week to pray and fast for the Lord to bring true peace to Israel and her neighbors. The situation really is growing more urgent by the day.

At the same time, Jesus said in Matthew 24:44, “you must be ready.” Joshua said in Joshua 1:11, “Get your supplies ready.” The Lord said in Ezekiel 38:7, “Get ready, be prepared.” That can take many forms, but I would ask you to prayerfully consider financially helping The Joshua Fund pre-position food and other relief supplies in Israel ahead of this coming war.

STOCKPILING FOOD — In late 2007, The Joshua Fund made a commitment to help one of our allies stockpile 400 tons of food in a warehouse in northern Israel by the end of 2010. In light of these growing threats of war, we are completing that task by the end of 2009 instead. That means doubling the amount of food we help this ally purchase in the next few months.

OPENING 3 NEW FOOD DISTRIBUTION CENTERS — TJF has just helped open three new food distribution facilities around Israel. Lord willing, these will now operate along with the center we helped get up and running in the Israeli town of Sderot, near the Gaza border, in January during the war with Hamas. Working closely with our Jewish and Christian allies in Israel, we will be able to help distribute 20-30 tons of food and other relief supplies a month to the poor and needy in Israel through these four centers. We will also be working closely with those who run the centers to develop plans to deal with a coming war.

PURCHASING VEHICLES TO DISTRIBUTE RELIEF AID — TJF is preparing to purchase delivery vehicles for each of these centers who have a need for transportation so their staff and volunteers will be able to deliver food and other relief supplies for those who need them most.

PRAYING FOR A WAREHOUSE IN CENTRAL ISRAEL — Over the past year or so, we’ve seen the Lord close the door to three warehouse opportunities. But we continue to pray that the Lord will lead us and guide us to just the right facility. We would be grateful if you would pray with us. War clouds over Iran are building rapidly. On Friday night during the 9/11 National Town Hall Meeting, I explained that because Washington and the Western powers are doing nothing decisive to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, there is an increasingly likelihood that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will feel the need to matters into his own hands, and soon. Iran now has enough enriched uranium (that we know about) to build at least two nuclear weapons. If the Russians deliver and install the new S-300 state-of-the-art anti-aircraft missiles in Iran then the Israelis ability to decimate Iran nuclear facilities will be dramatically diminished. These are likely the issues Netanyahu discussed in the Kremlin last Monday. So, short of divine intervention and/or a dramatic turnabout in Western resolve and action, we may very well be looking at an Israeli preemptive strike in 2010.
In light of that assessment, I would draw to your attention a sobering and must-read column this morning by a Wall Street Journal editorial writer Bret Stephens. It’s entitled, “Obama Is Pushing Israel Toward War.”

Excerpts:

• “Events are fast pushing Israel toward a pre-emptive military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, probably by next spring. That strike could well fail. Or it could succeed at the price of oil at $300 a barrel, a Middle East war, and American servicemen caught in between. So why is the Obama administration doing everything it can to speed the war process along?
  
• “At July’s G-8 summit in Italy, Iran was given a September deadline to start negotiations over its nuclear programs. Last week, Iran gave its answer: No. Instead, what Tehran offered was a five-page document that was the diplomatic equivalent of a giant kiss-off. It begins by lamenting the ‘ungodly ways of thinking prevailing in global relations’ and proceeds to offer comprehensive talks on a variety of subjects: democracy, human rights, disarmament, terrorism, ‘respect for the rights of nations,’ and other areas where Iran is a paragon. Conspicuously absent from the document is any mention of Iran’s nuclear program, now at the so-called breakout point, which both Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his boss Ali Khamenei insist is not up for discussion….
• “The longer the U.S. delays playing hardball with Iran, the sooner Israel is likely to strike. A report published today by the Bipartisan Policy Center, and signed by Democrat Chuck Robb, Republican Dan Coats, and retired Gen. Charles Ward, notes that by next year Iran will ‘be able to produce a weapon’s worth of highly enriched uranium . . . in less than two months.’ No less critical in determining Israel’s timetable is the anticipated delivery to Iran of Russian S-300 anti-aircraft batteries: Israel will almost certainly strike before those deliveries are made, no matter whether an Iranian bomb is two months or two years away.
• “Such a strike may well be in Israel’s best interests, though that depends entirely on whether the strike succeeds. It is certainly in America’s supreme interest that Iran not acquire a genuine nuclear capability, whether of the actual or break-out variety. That goes also for the Middle East generally, which doesn’t need the nuclear arms race an Iranian capability would inevitably provoke.
• “Then again, it is not in the U.S. interest that Israel be the instrument of Iran’s disarmament. For starters, its ability to do so is iffy: Israeli strategists are quietly putting it about that even a successful attack may have to be repeated a few years down the road as Iran reconstitutes its capacity. For another thing, Iran could respond to such a strike not only against Israel itself, but also U.S targets in Iraq and the Persian Gulf.”

To misunderstand the nature and threat of evil is to risk being blindsided by it.

Eight years ago today, we lost 2,974 Americans and foreign nationals living in the U.S. (not counting the 19 hijackers) because we were blindsided by Radical Islam.

Since then, we have lost at least 4,343 Americans fighting Radical Islam in Iraq, and 823 Americans fighting Radical Islam in Afghanistan.

Will we be blindsided again?

The battle with Radical Islam has impacted our families, our military, our gas prices, our economy, and our politics. But how has it impacted the Church?

Jesus told His disciples to “be on the alert.” (Matthew 24:42). He told His followers to “love your neighbors” (Matthew 19:19), and “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44). What’s more, the Lord taught us to bless Israel and we would be blessed (Genesis 12:1-3). How are we doing?

Do followers of Jesus Christ truly understand the threat posed by the jihadists? Does the Church have both a heart and a plan to spread the love of Jesus Christ among the Muslim people in response? Does the Church have a heart and plan for strengthening the persecuted Church operating deep inside the Muslim world? Does the Church have a heart and plan to bless Israel and the Jewish people and to show them unconditional love and unwavering support as they face the Radicals on the front lines?

In the new Inside The Revolution documentary film just released on DVD, I argue that today we are at the most dangerous moment of the Islamic Revolution since it exploded on the international scene with a vengeance thirty years ago with the rise of the Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran.

As you’ll see through the evidence presented in the film and exclusive interviews with key experts, the current leaders of Iran are committed to completing their Revolution by destroying Judeo-Christian civilization. They intend to bring about an Islamic Empire on earth, ruled by a would-be Islamic Savior known as the Twelfth Imam or the Mahdi. The leaders of Iran — not the people, but the leaders — form an apocalyptic, genocidal death cult. By their own statements — documented in the film — they don’t simply want to terrorize American and Israeli cities. They want to annihilate them. And now, according to new IAEA data they appear to have enough enriched uranium to build at least two nuclear weapons. They are dangerously close to being to accomplish their murderous mission.

Skeptics and cynics say, “Yadda, yadda, yadda.” But that’s what they said before 9/11, before Pearl Harbor, before the Holocaust. And they were wrong.

Tonight, during the National Town Hall Meeting, we will honor those who have been lost in the battle with the Radicals over the last eight years. Then, a team of experts will discuss these critical issues and practical ways the Church can and should respond.
